Melissa has been the Administration Assistant at Construct Health Physiotherapy in Mackay for the past 3 years.
Melissa enjoys meeting new people, is a caffeine addict and a fan of Dr Sheldon Cooper… Bazinga!
We moved to Mackay 9 Years ago and totally love the lifestyle.
I am an avid Rugby union supporter, as well as F1 Motor GP and English Premier Soccer.
My husband and I love to work and play in and around Mackay and the Whitsudays which we find truly spectacular.
I have worked 20 years within the profession and have experience within hospitals and clinics, sport clubs and the army, I have even worked within schools.
The majority of my professional development has been on spinal pain neck, thoracic and lumbar. I have also completed a number of courses on dry needling and learnt some acupuncture points.
From working on an orthopaedic ward I feel more confident to assist with post surgical rehab. Also at two hospitals I worked as the women’s health physiotherapist and since having children of my own I feel I am more empathic to mothers and able to give more practical post natal advice.
I also work as a gymnastic coach and have an interest in injuries and musculoskeletal pain of a growing body.
My name is Travis Kerr, I am the newly appointed Practice Manager at Construct Health as well as Exercise Scientist. I have been working as an Exercise Scientist and Gym Manager for the last 5 years both in New Zealand and Australia. My experience in this field has lead me to understand there is often a lot more to rehabilitation of an injury than simply addressing the obvious issue- a well-rounded integrated approach is a lot more beneficial, this is one of the reasons I become a Life Coach too. I have found the sills and tools learned through Life Coaching invaluable in both my personal and professional life.
What drives me most is helping other people and watching people grow and learn. My passion has lead me on this career path where I have been fortunate enough to promote health and wellbeing through my profession. I am a huge advocate for exercise and healthy living and how these life choices can create positivity for people from all walks of life. I am always eager to learn and constantly improving my knowledge and understanding about all aspects of life- I believe if you not learning you are not growing and if you not growing you are heading backwards.
In my spare time I am a family man with a wife and father to 2 (soon to be 3) children. I enjoy spending as much quality time with them as possible. I am also a huge sports fan and love watching and participating in a range of sports. My ideal weekend would be playing with the kids, having a bbq with friends and family while watching a live sports game.
